For over eight seasons now we’ve had the strange pleasure of making animated promos and graphics for this obnoxious yet iconic comedy. Our first package turned Paddy’s Pub into a man-eating monster that barfed up the gang and then promptly licked them back up again. Not weird enough for you? Well, FX’s brief for each subsequent season has been, “Make it weirder.” Thank you, FX.
When FX asked us to out-crazy our Season 9 package we honestly weren't sure it was possible. We pitched ideas as wide ranging as a minimalist zen meditation of Frank's head and a far-flung 80's inspired space adventure. What won out was this amateur-fan-art-inspired insanity. So, we picked up our markers and went at it with stream-of-consciousness doodling while marathoning the first nine seasons. The result is close to a decade of degenerate humor packed into one glorious sketch. It's cell-animated visual overload full of obscure inside jokes that die-hard fans could spend days trying to decode.
